Shantel is now treating horses with Joint Manipulation Equine (Chiropactics)/Equine Osteopathy/Massage Therapy/Infared Impulse Laser Therapy
Shantel has been studing Equine Osteopathy in Texas at the Vluggen Institute.
Osteopathy-is a combination of spinal and extremity joint manipulation, visceral (organ) manipulation and craniosacral therapy. The fundamental philosophy of osteopathy is that for the body to be truly healthy and vital, every tissue in the body must have proper mobility, thus affecting flow of blood, lymph and nerve impulses. One of the basic tenets is that the presenting complaint, (where they are stiff or sore) is never the dominant restriction or lesion in the body.
I have found osteopathy to be superiour to chiropractic. The osteopath looks beyond the spine for the cause of reduced mobility anywhere in the musculoskeletal system and further. In that way the root problem is adressed upfront rather than having to repetitively keep returning (becuase they are often secondary to a more internal restriction.) Because of this, Osteopathy is truly a whole body technique and is therefore helpful to any organ system having problems, not just the spine, joints and muscles of the body. Osteopaths have documented for the last 25 years that in human patients, approximetely 80% of musculoskeletal problems actually have a visceral or organ origin (any restriction of internal fascia) and thus it is via interruption of flow in the autonomic nervous system and of the gamma loop to the spine that creates the areas of reduced movement in the spine and pelvis (that shows up as stiffness, back pain, perfomance issues and subsequent lower limb problems in horses.)

NEW - INFRARED IMPULSE LASER THERAPY!
Vets and physiotherapists all over the world are using this unit!
The laser uses a wavelength of photon energy, almost like the sun's rays.
Light therapy enhances already healthy cells and stimulates damage cells to begin their healing process. Laser light penetrates deep into the skin/tissue layers and stimulates cellular energy and metablolic processes which pomote healing and tissue regeneration. It also stimulates the release of natural, pain killing chemicals within the body which facilitate long lasting pain relief.
"Shantel has done her research on this laser. After going and spending time with a college and classmate Janus Marquis Equine Olympic Physio Theraist. Shantel chosen the same laser Janus uses all over the world! As Janus says whe will never leave home without it!"
