Martin Stables is owned and operated by Shantel Perreal. Shantel has had over 25 years of experience in ranching, training, and showing horses.
Shantel's father, Glen Jacobi, was a horse trainer and quarter horse breeder and operated out of Gilwood Ranch in High Prairie, Alberta. It was Glen's training and love for animals that inspired Shantel to start Martin Stables.

Over the years, Shantel participated in barrel racing, gymkhana, and team roping with her farther and sister. In conjunction with these accomplishments, cattle sorting back on Glen's ranch was common element to daily life. As time moved on, Shantel began showing her farther's studs and colts around Alberta, and in 1984 she won the title of Rodeo Queen in Northern Alberta.
As her career progressed, Shantel took her love of horses to a new level. She wanted to understand the psychology of horses, and how we as people can better understand them in order to work and train them at their absolute peak.
Shantel studied Pat Parelli's program and completing level 3 through the clinics of Don Holiday. She additionally graduated from the John Lyons program with certified trainer Steve Weklund. She continues to pursue new training methods to develop and enhance her own approach.
Shantel's personal philosophy, and one that you can see her practice, is to never quit, but always have fun.
Shantel has been studing equine anatomy for over 10 years. In her own words she said "When I am training I am seeing differnt attidudes and very strange gaits, bucking for not reason, bad behaviour! So I decided I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING!" So she has found that training is not just training anymore! She loves studing anatomy! She also says "beware of people out there that are saying that they are certified in equine massage therapy and chiropractics, most have taken a weekend or 4 day course! and I will tell you I have been studing equine Anatomy for years now and there is NO WAY you can cover this stuff in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!"
